Musicians from the AMA family have well and truly taken over the entertainment for Longford’s up and coming music festival NewC Fest which will take place on June 7th. The one day, two stage music festival will take place in picturesque surroundings of Newcastle House, a three hundred year old heritage country house in
Ballymahon, Co. Longford. NewC Fest is a true celebration of home grown Irish talent and headlining the occasion is the legendary Ryan Sheridan. The Monaghan native singer songwriter has just returned from an extensive sell out tour in Germany where he played to over 100,000 fans and had an extra twelve dates added to meet demand. He has earned himself a reputation as one of Ireland’s rare gems and has received critical acclaim and support from music critics both in Ireland and abroad. This talented artist will be performing all of his biggest hits including “The Jigsaw”, “Stand up Tall” and “The Dreamer”.
Other artists who have confirmed performance include Keywest, Big September, Tupelo, White Chalk, Children of the Son and Red Empire. Keywest are no strangers to performing to large crowds, these pop crowd pleasers have one of the strongest fan followings out there and consistently sell out venue after venue. Indie rockers Big September look set for a meteoric rise in 2014. They have already been confirmed to play three major festivals this summer. Their debut album “Ballroom Addicts” is being launched in May along with a headline performance at The Academy on May 17th. Tupelo are a truly enchanting, original group who infuse traditional Irish music with an alternative folks blues sound. Their unique line up of instruments includes the guitar, fiddle, harmonica, double bass, mandolin and dobro. They have the ability to completely draw in a crowd and get them involved in the music. Be prepared for a hand clapping, foot stomping time. Fronted by singer songwriter Conor Quinn, White Chalk are a fresh new band with a distinctive sound. Their recent single “Carnival of Lights” received critical acclaim. Irish alternative rock quartet Children of the Son have catapulted into the music industry. Hotpress magazines have named them as the ones to watch and it is easy to see why, lead vocalist Jack Matthew’s has a sunning four octave vocal range and they have a killer melodies and showmanship. Energetic Dublin rockers Red Empire look set for a stellar 2014. Their debut album “Inhale” is due out later this year and is already creating hype with music critics after the success of their first two EP’s “Strange Philosophy” and “Small Mercies”. NewC Fest is set to be one of the biggest celebrations of Irish music to take place this summer with more acts due to be added to the already wonderful line-up. The one day festival will also feature a comedy tent and adventure activities for thrill seekers.
