Top Artists To Book This Summer For Festivals

As the festival season soon approaches we’ve compiled a list of some of our top artists that play festivals. All festival heavyweights these bands are the ones that deliver sonically over media but pack just as much of a punch live.

  • Keywest

Having played the Vodafone Stage at Oxygen 2011 they followed it up the next year with a sold-out headline tour. They have opened shows in Ireland for Blondie, Olly Murs & Mel C. Very professional band with a great work ethic.

  • Walking On Cars

Winners of the Red Bull Bedroom 2012, this took them to record at Grouse Lodge Studio w/ Tom McFall producer of Bloc Party and Snow Patrol. Walking On Cars will be playing they first big gig in the Olympia Theater in Dublin on May 13th for FM 104’s “The Gig”. With proceeds going to a good cause ISPCC Childline.

 

  • The 4 Of Us

Hailing from Derry this 2-piece was voted No. 7 in a poll run by TV3 for Top Irish Bands Ever loosing out to the likes of U2 and Thin Lizzy. All 7 of their studio albums have made the Top 20 in Ireland. The band will be playing Vicar Street in Dublin after a 7-year hiatus from the venue. Their smash hit “Mary” is a regular on Irish Radio and the band is constantly touring the country, both with a full electric and a brand new, stripped down acoustic version.

  • Big September

They’re a 5-piece emerging outfit from Bray, Ireland. Previously known as the Peakin’ Trippers. In the year 2010 the band came runner-up in the Hot Press Untamed. The band are well known around their hometown of Bray for their regular gigging, as well as in Dublin’s City Centre. Big September have played alongside great Irish acts such as Republic Of Loose, Paddy Casey & Bipolar Empire.

 

  • The Coronas

They’re no stranger to playing to large crowds having opened up for numerous acts including Paul McCartney & Justin Timberlake. They have also played the main stage at Oxygen several times and have played Marlay Park. This success enabled them to play the 02 in December 2012. Their success also helped them to garner international attention to get them invited to play at SXSW festival, which is held in Austin, Texas.

The band have also made a habit of playing Dublin’s Olympia Theatre for a couple of nights every December.

  • Vann Music

This quartet of musicians formed in Dublin in 2012 to form a stable that combine elements of dance, French house music & pop. The latter part of 2012 saw the band perfecting songs and fine-tuning their sound. 2013 saw Vann Music go from strength to strength with their debut release, EP “Electro Shock Dreams” with lead single “Life In Real Time”. Their first headline show sold out at the Academy helping the band to land appearances at the Longitude Festival & Electric Picnic.

 

  • Mojo Gogo

They’re a 4-piece cross-border band with the musicians hailing from Derry and Donegal. 2013 was a big year for Mojo Gogo with the release of their EP Heartbreaks, Hangovers & Handcuffs and they also made several festival appearances amongst them being Knockanstockan Independent Music & Arts Festival. The 6th of March sees them play the Academy 2 in Dublin. April will see them perform at the Barndance Festival and the location has yet to be announced as its kept secret until the day of the event. May sees them also play the Mai City Festival in Faßberg Germany.

 

  • The Rubberbandits

They went from headlining student events such as the NUI Galway Arts Ball and The Trinity Ball in Dublin – where they performed alongside such acts as Jessie J and The Streets to performing at the Reading, Leeds & Oxygen Festivals and selling out their own shows in the UK and Ireland. Their 2011 performance at Oxygen according to the promoters MCD was the biggest crowd that have watched an opening act at Oxygen. In August 2012 they performed a series of 12 shows at the world’s biggest arts festival, “The Edinburgh Fringe” where the sold out all of the shows. Later in the month they were presented with the “Most Original Act On The Fringe Award” for their performances during the festival.  The duo is currently touring London with a series of comedic shows and making ground with their new single “Dads Best Friend”

  • Fresh Ré

The youngest outfit on our list, this 5-piece band from Celbridge  are tipped for stardom by Robbie Williams after 2 members of the band’s cover of Rihanna’s “We Found Love” got 4 million views on Youtube. Their dreams became a reality when on the 21st December 2013 they performed alongside who else but Robbie Williams. 8 days prior they reached chart success with their debut single ‘Young”” knocked Robin Thicke off the Itunes R’N’B Charts in Ireland. The band itself was responsible for the writing of “Young”, highlighting their ability as artists. 2014 promises to be a good year for Fresh Ré.
